Aims and Objectives

  • Feedback from an Expert Witness in GDC Fitness to Practice Hearings, how the GDC requests a Report on a complaint and who makes complaints
  • Attendees will learn the structure of Fitness to Practice as well as how to respond to and avoid complaints escalating at the GDC
  • To understand the changing guidance of consent
  • Outcomes: Patient care will be enhanced and practitioners will be better prepared to avoid unwelcome attention from the GDC

Development Outcomes:

The General Dental Council encourages you to choose CPD to cover all four development outcomes in your cycle:

A: Effective communication with patients, the dental team, and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk.
